Time Out!  Re-Treat on the Road to Santiago

My friend and fellow coach, Susan Bainter Baghdadi, and I are excited to offer you a fabulous opportunity to “Re-treat” (as Susan calls it) in SPAIN this September!  Are you:

  • Super-busy, over-scheduled and overwhelmed?
  • At odds with your body?
  • Dreaming of more “me” time?
  • Longing for connection with nature or spirit?
  • Spending too much time indoors?

Bridge1Then this Re-treat is for you! The ideal participant on this walking retreat is anyone who feels trapped by time constraints, feels stressed by time’s passage, and wants to gain a new perspective through sacred adventuring.  It’s designed to help you step away from the crush of time as you know it and remember who you are, what you came into this life to do, and to simply enjoy being fully present and aware while walking.

Treats you’ll walk away with:

For the Mind: A new understanding of the concept and constraints of time. Tools for discovering where you’re stuck on your personal journey and why. You’ll learn to dissolve thoughts preventing forward motion in your life.

For the Body: The achievement of a timeless and challenging physical goal. A gentle practice for restoring a state of balance & health in your body. Deeper knowledge of how to rest in action and act in stillness. A new-found respect for your own personal pace.

For the Spirit: A deepened sense of calm, connected presence in nature and foreign locales. Tools to help you create your own presence practice.

Santiago de Compostela

What is the Road to Santiago?

The Camino de Santiago is an ancient pilgrimage route in Northern Spain that converges on the Cathedral Santiago de Compostela, which houses the remains of St. James.   Hospitality, the tradition passed on by thousands of travelers over the past 11 centuries, echoes in each stone, each tree, and each piece of land along the medieval route.

The pilgrimage to Santiago is a trip, usually executed on foot, of almost 800 km (we’ll complete the last 100).  Some claim it’s a journey not only to a physical destination, but also to the interior of oneself, and that each person undertakes it with their own baggage and objectives. Some seek the pleasure of trekking; others are motivated by religious conviction or by artistic and historic interest. Although reasons for embarking differ, one thing rarely does: the spirit of adventure towards a mysterious and transformative goal.

When you travel, you experience, in a very practical way the act of rebirth. You confront completely new situations, the day passes more slowly and on most journeys you don’t even understand the language people speak. So you are like a child just out of the womb. You begin to attach more importance to the things around you because your survival depends on them. You begin to be more accessible to others because they may be able to help you in difficult situations. And you accept any small favor from the gods with great delight, as if it were an episode you would remember for the rest of your life. At the same time, since all things are new, you see only beauty in them and you feel happy to be alive! That’s why a pilgrimage has always been one of the most objective ways of achieving insight.“ –  Paulo Coelho – The Pilgrimage”

Why the Camino?

The Camino offers an excellent way to realize the main intention of this mind/body/spirit Re-Treat:  to treat ourselves by entering “presence” in nature. We will discover and honor the speed at which our individual bodies want to move, set and achieve a challenging physical goal and challenge the self-created obstacles in our minds that stop us from achieving our goals and purpose.
